Toddlers love to be big helpers! Spend time making these easy recipes with your child, and watch the smiles burst out everywhere.
The recipes listed below are intended for parents to do with their child. They are easy, but do require adult supervision. 3-Minute No Bake CookiesIngredients: 2 cups granulated sugar 8 tablespoons (1 stick) margarine or butter 1/2 cup low-fat milk 1/3 cup Nestle Baking Cocoa 3 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) Directions: In large saucepan, combine sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Continue boiling 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Stir in oats. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until firm. Store tightly covered. Apple SmilesIngredients: 1 or more apples Peanut butter Mini-marshmallows Directions: Cut apple into wedges, spread peanut butter on one side of each wedge. Place 4 mini-marshmallows on peanut butter of one wedge, and place another wedge on top. It looks like a smile with teeth! Baggy FudgeIngredients: 2/3 c. powder sugar 1 T. margarine 1/2 oz. cream cheese 1 1/2 t. cocoa Directions: Put ingredients into a sturdy, sandwich size ziplock bag. Push air out of bag and seal well. Allow the child to squish mixture together with their hands. It is dry at first but will soon mix up into a delicious fudge treat that the children can dip graham crackers or vanilla wafers in. It is a great sensory activity too. Krispie CookiesIngredients: 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1/2 cup peanut butter 3 cups rice krispies cereal Clean hands Mixing bowl and spoons Measuring cups Directions: Mix all ingredients together and shape into balls. Moisten hands first to eliminate sticking. Monkey BreadIngredients: 1/3 cup butter 1 10 oz package of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits 2/3 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon Directions: Microwave butter for 45 seconds to 1 minute on high in a small glass measuring cup. Cut each biscuit in half. Mix sugar and cinnamon together in small dish. Roll each biscuit in butter. Remove from butter and roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place in a circle around outside edge of pie plate, standing biscuit up on its side. Microwave on 70% power for 5-7 minutes until biscuits feel light and springy. Let stand on counter for 3-4 minutes. Turn upside down on serving plate.
